Last chance to bid in East Africa Famine Art Auction

7th July 2011 12:16:40

Large parts of East Africa are facing the world’s worst food crisis. Oxfam is appealing for £50 million – their largest ever appeal for Africa.

More than 12 million people in East Africa are facing desperate food shortages following the worst drought in 60 years. Rains have failed for successive seasons, and families across Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya are struggling to find anything to eat or drink. Hundreds of thousands of livestock have already died. Food prices have rocketed.

Right now Gallery Violet is auctioning works by its artists to raise funds for the East Africa Famine. Auction ends 25 July 2011 so please bid soon.

Highest bid over the artist’s reserve price wins the work.

All proceeds go to the Oxfam East Africa Appeal.

On the Gallery Violet website we will be adding new work for auction until tomorrow afternoon. See www.galleryviolet.com/east-africa-appeal/

How it works:

Please only make serious bids which you will be able to make good on. You may bid on as many items as you like as many times as you like. You will be notified of any wins after 25 July 2011. Payment will be invoiced using Paypal. The entire amount paid for your piece will go to the Oxfam appeal. NB. Shipping costs from artist’s country of origin to your desired location are extra on top of the price you pay for the piece and shipping may be arranged by yourselves or by us as you wish.

How to bid:

Please email your generous bid amounts to anick@galleryviolet.com and make the subject of your email East Africa Appeal. Include your name and contact details, the name of the artist whose work you are bidding for and the sum you would like to bid.

If your bid is the highest amount of all bids for that work, you will be able to purchase the piece at that price, plus delivery of the work from where the artist is (see notes on works above) to your destination address.

More details updated regularly. Share this appeal with your friends and ask them to bid please to try and make a little bit of difference in Africa.
