Our unique Suffolk apples and pears

 

 

As a result of the East of England Apples and Orchards Project, several apple varieties have emerged as being unique to Suffolk. The Lord Stradbroke apple was discovered by the Earl of Stradbroke’s head gardener, Mr Fenn, at Henham Hall, in about 1900. Another long-keeping cooking apple originated in the garden of the Live and Let Live public house in Combs, near Stowmarket. Villagers called it the Catherine.
